Hi, I'm home improvement expert Lou Manfredini. You know replacing your old windows and patio doors is one of the smartest investments you can make as a home owner?
New energy efficient products can save you up to 25% on your annual heating and cooling bills. And quality wood windows hold their value and resell. Now let me give you an idea how the replacement window process works.
It all starts with a visit to your Marvin dealer to discuss all the options that are available. They can answer questions and help you select which style and size best suits your home and your budget.
Marvin has an almost endless selection of styles and sizes. There's all wood products or wood with a durable heavy duty extruded aluminum clad exterior. You'll discuss hardware and various wood species and finishes available. Plus, there are plenty of glass options.
Your dealer will help you choose the best energy efficient glass option based on the characteristics of your home. Marvin even offers the ultimate in energy efficiency with Tri-Pane glass. Most Marvin products with energy efficient glass qualify for a $1500 Federal Tax credit through the end of 2010.
Okay.. so you've made your choices and put in your order. What's next?
Now you maybe working with an authorized Marvin retailer who will handle all the job from start to finish. Other Marvin dealers will refer you to reliable local installers. The installer will visit your home and take precise measurements of all your windows and door openings, ensuring an exact fit.
Marvin then builds your windows and doors to exact specification. They're hand-crafted one at a time precisely as you ordered them. When the big day arrives and your windows are ready to go.. relax. They'll be installed with minimal mess and fuss!
Discuss each window and door with the installing crew member. Point out any areas of concern, for example, if you've got a prized rose bush you want them to work around. The crew will work carefully and leave your home the same way they found it.
First, they'll remove your old windows. If your window frames are in good shape, they won't even have to be removed. The new window will be inserted into the existing frame. If they're replacing the pull frame, then the exterior and interior wood trim will be removed and replaced.
Your new windows and patio doors will be shipped precisely sized and ready to install. The workers will slip them into place, make sure they are level and plumb. Depending on the size of your windows and how much trim is being replaced, an experienced crew should be able to replace 6-8 windows a day.
Now when the job is done, the crew will make sure your yard is free from debree and your house is broom clean. All that is left for you to do is enjoy the beauty, comfort, and value of your new windows and patio doors.
That wasn't so tough was it?
